Moderate-level flooding recorded in River Chenab

Moderate-level flooding has been recorded in River Chenab at Khanki, Qadirabad and Chiniot Bridge, while the Palkhu Nullah in Wazirabad is also experiencing moderate flooding.

According to NDMA, low-level flooding conditions continue at Kalabagh, Chashma and Taunsa on the River Indus; Marala and Trimmu on the River Chenab; Balloki and Sidhnai on the River Ravi and Nowshera on the River Kabul.

There is low level flooding at Nullah Aik and Palkhu Nullah Cantt Bridge, while the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are currently flowing normally.

According to the NDMA, water levels are expected to rise further at Marala, Khanki, Qadirabad and Chiniot Bridge on the River Chenab in the next twenty-four hours.

Water levels at Trimmu Barrage on the River Chenab may rise to moderate flood levels within the next twenty-four hours.

During the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours, there is a risk of sudden flooding in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, rain-fed streams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan. There is a risk of urban flooding in the cities of Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Multan, Hafizabad and Lahore during this period.

The NDMA has directed relevant departments to ensure continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations, readiness of emergency response teams and immediate arrangements for restoring any blocked roads.
