Pakistan calls for sustained global coordination to address Sudan crisis
August 25, 2026

Pakistan has called for sustained international coordination, cooperation and full compliance with international humanitarian law to address the worsening situation in Sudan.

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan's Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmad stressed that the only viable path towards a durable resolution remains a Sudanese-led and Sudanese-owned political process.

He said that a peaceful, stable and united Sudan is indispensable for the prosperity and stability of Africa as a whole.

He noted that continued fighting, mass displacement and the worsening humanitarian crisis pose a direct threat to regional stability.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's Representative also called on the UN Security Council to push for an immediate end to fighting in Ukraine, renewed diplomacy, and meaningful dialogue.

He expressed concern on the toll the conflict has taken on civilian populations, deploring its escalation and the recent attacks made on critical energy and food supply infrastructure.

Asim Iftikhar said lasting peace in Ukraine requires a mutually acceptable settlement that respects the UN Charter and the security interests of all sides.
