British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called for general election in December to break the impasse faced by Britain in leaving the European Union.

In a letter to the leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn, he said he will not meet his deadline to leave the European Union next week.

He said that he would give parliament more time to approve his Brexit deal but lawmakers must back holding of election on 12th of December.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn said he would not support an election until a no-deal Brexit is removed from the agenda.

On the other hand, European Union ambassadors have postponed a decision on duration of delay Britain's exit from the bloc until next week.

During a meeting in Brussels today, the 27 member states agree in principle that Brexit should be delayed beyond the end of the month, but talks are ongoing about the duration of the delay.
