IIOJK: Authorities bar Eid-ul-Adha prayers at Jamia Masjid, Eidgah Srinagar
May 27, 2026

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a massive cordon and search operation launched by occupation forces in Rajouri district has entered its fifth consecutive day today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian forces, conducting the so-called ‘Operation Sheruwali’, are using helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs, intensifying fear and panic among local residents.

All entry and exit routes have been sealed, while nearby villages remain under strict cordon and door-to-door searches.

Meanwhile, the New Delhi-imposed administration has once again barred Kashmiri Muslims from offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the ban was enforced by the New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha-led administration on the instructions of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah.

The move continues a pattern of religious restrictions, as congregational Eid prayers have repeatedly been barred at Jamia Masjid and Eidgah since 2019.

Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was once again placed under house arrest and prevented from leading Eid prayers, expressed his anguish over the decision.

Calling the situation deeply distressing, the Mirwaiz, in a post on X, said the continued denial of prayers is not merely an administrative step but an erosion of religious tradition and identity.

Emphasising the enduring nature of faith, he said religious bonds cannot be weakened through force.
