In New York, the Kashmiri-American community staged a protest outside the United Nations Headquarters in solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest was organized by the World Kashmir Awareness Forum and Kashmiri-American communities from New York and Washington.

A large number of Kashmiri and Pakistani community members, including women, children and elders, participated in the protest.

Under the banner “A Call to the United Nations,” protesters called for implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir and the restoration of human rights.

They expressed disappointment over allowing the Indian representative to address the UN and demanded the international body grant the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.

The protesters also called for an end to human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and immediate implementation of UN resolutions.

At the conclusion, a memorandum was submitted to UN officials, urging diplomatic intervention for a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
