Taliban regime facing intense, simultaneous global criticism over HR violations
May 28, 2026

The Taliban regime is facing intense, simultaneous global criticism over human rights violations, terrorism and a worsening economic crisis.

In a recent development, the European Parliament passed a resounding resolution with 480 votes in favor, completely rejecting the Taliban's extremist policies and their newly introduced Criminal Procedure Code for Courts.

Members of the European Parliament characterized the regime's judicial and penal system as one built on the systemic exploitation, enslavement, and gender segregation of women.

Furthermore, the European Parliament demanded that the Taliban regime immediately halt public punishments, executions, and other harsh measures and repeal its newly enforced penal code.

The parliament also urged the enforcement of stricter sanctions against Taliban leaders and called for the execution of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court.

The resolution called upon all European institutions and member states to refrain from normalizing relations with Taliban.
