Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted in 1998 were in response to nuclear tests of India. These tests not only demonstrated the resolve of the Pakistani nation to safeguard country’s territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty, but also the desire to preserve strategic balance in South Asia. India tried to threaten Pakistan to invade Kashmir. All politicians supported this program for the security and development of the country. After the successful Operation Bunyan al Marsoos, Pakistan successfully demonstrated its power over its arch enemy India. At diplomatic fronts also, Pakistan is being recognized as a responsible and peace loving country.

A M Shahid (Former Ambassador): 28th May 1998 was the historic day in the history of Pakistan when Pakistan conducted nuclear blasts in response to Indian nuclear tests and turned down international pressure in this regard. Pakistan emerged as the only Islamic nuclear power in the world. The defense system of Pakistan is in the safe hands and only for its self-defense. Once again the country is passing through difficult phase and the government is making all out efforts to bring the country out of the crises.
