Pakistan has called for renewed dialogue to end the Ukraine conflict.
Addressing the UN Security Council, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, expressed deep concern over the continued escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
He urged all parties to fully comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law.
The Permanent Representative stressed that there is no military solution to the conflict and reiterated that lasting peace can only be achieved through earnest, sustained and meaningful dialogue.
Reaffirming Pakistan's support for the implementation of Resolution 2774, he called for an immediate and complete cessation of hostilities to create space for diplomacy and the resumption of negotiations. He underscored that a mutually acceptable peaceful settlement, consistent with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, the legitimate security interests of all parties and relevant multilateral agreements, remains the only viable path forward.
Asim Iftikhar affirmed that Pakistan will continue to support all efforts aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, durable and peaceful resolution of the conflict.
