Pakistan has welcomed the evolving situation in Syria, stating that after years of conflict, fragmentation and humanitarian suffering, the country now has a genuine opportunity to advance stabilization, recovery and a return to normalcy.
The remarks were made by Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Usman Jadoon while speaking at the UN Security Council briefing on the humanitarian and political situation in Syria.
He emphasized that this opportunity must be seized, preserved and supported by the international community.
He also highlighted the importance of an inclusive, Syrian-owned and Syrian-led political process that broadens participation, strengthens national cohesion and responds to the aspirations of the Syrian people.
Expressing deep concern over Israeli military escalation against Syria, Usman Jadoon strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Abu al-Duhur Airbase as a violation of international law.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for the peace, stability and prosperity of the Syrian people. He emphasized that Pakistan would continue to stand with the brotherly people of Syria as they pursue a future of unity, stability and prosperity.
