Pakistan greatly values its relations with Iraq: FM

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan desires meaningful cooperation with Iraq.   

He was addressing a joint news conference along with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in Baghdad today (Saturday) after talks that focused on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.

He said we want to establish a partnership based on mutual interests.

The Foreign Minister emphasized the need for high level exchanges between the two countries saying this will help further strengthen the bilateral relationship.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan is determined to extend every possible cooperation for food security of the fraternal country.

The Foreign Minister said about two hundred thousand Pakistani Zaireen visit sacred sites in Iraq every year. He said we are introducing Zaireen Management Policy to facilitate them.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the Afghan peace process must go forward. He said during talks with the Iraqi counterpart, he apprised him of the role played by Pakistan to facilitate the peace process.
