Chinese President Xi Jinping says China is deeply pained by extremely severe situation in Gaza.

In a conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al Sisi, he said the current round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has caused a large number of innocent Palestinian civilian casualties and the humanitarian situation in Gaza is extremely severe.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized the United Nations over its failure to stop Israel from indiscriminate bombardment and attacks in Gaza enclave.

Speaking at party meeting in Ankara today, he called on the Islamic world to react after the latest deadly Israeli strikes in Gaza.

Erdogan said Israel is not just a threat to Gaza but to all of humanity.
