Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that with a transformational investment to modernise and strengthen Pakistan International Airlines, we are laying the foundation for PIA's revival while reinforcing investor confidence in Pakistan.
In a post on X, he said today marks another important milestone in Pakistan's economic reform journey.
The Prime Minister said the successful first financial closing of the PIA privatisation transaction and the transfer of management control to the investor consortium mark the beginning of a new chapter for the national carrier.
Shehbaz Sharif commended Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and paid special tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and his dedicated team, as well as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Privatisation Commission, and all those whose professionalism, commitment, and tireless efforts made this landmark achievement possible.
The Prime Minister said, together, we will continue to pursue bold reforms that strengthen our economy, create opportunities for our people, and secure a more prosperous future for Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement, said the First Financial Closing of PIA today has sent a strong signal to domestic and international investors that Pakistan is open for business and committed to reform and growth.
He welcomed this historic milestone in the privatisation history of Pakistan and greeted the nation.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to protecting the interests of employees, passengers, and consumers while ensuring a smooth transition and uninterrupted airline operations.
