The Ministry of Economic Affairs has strongly refuted reports claiming that government has cancelled the 4500 MW power-generation component of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam.

In a statement, the Ministry said these reports are false and misleading. It said Diamer-Bhasha Dam remains a national priority project encompassing both water storage and hydropower generation.

The statement said planning and implementation of the project continue in coordination with WAPDA and the relevant ministries and stakeholders.

It also advised public and media to rely on official government sources and verified updates for accurate information regarding the project.
