Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that 40 primary stroke centres are now operational across Punjab, while 15 more centres are under construction.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore today, she said the government is also planning comprehensive stroke centres in major cities, including Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad, to provide advanced treatment and surgical interventions.

Maryam Nawaz said a 1,000-bed cancer hospital in Lahore will become operational within a few weeks.

She said cancer centres are also being established at divisional headquarters.
