Pakistan has said that sustainable peace in the Middle East cannot be built on the normalization of occupation.
Delivering a national statement during the High-Level Open Debate of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said the upcoming June Conference on realization of the two-state solution, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, presents a vital opportunity.
He hoped that the Conference will deliver tangible outcomes, which includes a timeline for Palestinian statehood, a freeze and reversal of settlement expansion, concrete measures to protect civilians and holy sites, and full, equal and rightful membership of Palestine in the United Nations.
