The Palestinian Authority and Arab League have expressed the hope that the new US administration under President-elect Joe Biden will play a positive role toward establishing an independent Palestinian state.
In a joint statement after a meeting in Cairo, the President of Palestinian Authority Mahmud Abbas and Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed the need to find a settlement.
Abbas is on a regional tour aimed at raising support for the Palestinians.
He will also hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi today.
Earlier, he also called on Jordan's king Abdullah-II in Aqaba.
The Jordanian king reiterated call for a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.
