Minister for Communications Murad Saeed has said the present government has executed road infrastructure projects of 1654 kilometres in its two and a half year tenure. 

Addressing an event of motorway police in Islamabad today (Wednesday), he said we initiated work on eleven new projects including the western route of CPEC whilst the ground-breaking of five more projects will be performed this year.

The Minister said that the ground breaking of first phase of Sialkot-Kharian-Rawalpindi motorway will be performed on 27th of May.

Referring to the deteriorating condition of Balkasar-Mianwali-Muzafargarh road, he said maintenance work has been started on it. He said this will be turned into a motorway or an expressway. Work on this project will be started in October.

He said the ground breaking of Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway and Chaman-Quetta-Karachi expressway will also be performed this year.

Murad Saeed said the total length of our road infrastructure projects will exceed over six thousand kilometres which is three times more than the ones executed in the previous regime.

He said our road infrastructure projects are different from the previous regime as these are not being built through loans but investments.

The Minister said technology is being used to make the journey on motorways and highways safe. He said this has also helped increase our revenue.

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said an ordinance is being promulgated for establishment of civil drone authority. He said this will regulate the manufacturing of drones in the country.

The Minister emphasized the need for employing drones in different sectors including policing, agriculture and health.

Fawad Chaudhary appreciated the motorway police for embracing the technology saying it will improve their performance and prove to be cost effective for them.

He said we have laid the foundation of Naya Pakistan on the basis of knowledge, science and technology.
