October 31, 2026

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the commitment to continue efforts for the development and prosperity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the welfare of its people.

He was addressing the PML-N Parliamentary Party and office-bearers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.

The Prime Minister said governor's rule and emergency were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in view of unavoidable circumstances.

He said the decision had become necessary to safeguard the people, the country, the economy and society.

He said failure to take a timely decision could have caused further losses to the province.

The Prime Minister said the party which remained in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the last thirteen years only made tall claims, questioning how many universities and hospitals were established there during this period. He said instead of serving the people, the focus remained on political slogans and deepening divisions.

He said the province has so far received eight hundred billion rupees under the NFC Award.

He questioned how many Safe City projects had been established with these funds and what steps were taken to strengthen the Counter Terrorism Department there.

Shehbaz Sharif said the available resources in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should have been spent on equipping the police with modern weapons and providing them with training.

He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rendered immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism saying these can never be forgotten.

The Prime Minister said that during Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's tenure, terrorism was eliminated from the country. He regretted that the terrorists were brought back from Afghanistan and resettled in Pakistan in 2019 and 2020. He said the resurgence of terrorism caused huge losses to the country.

The Prime Minister said the country's military and political leadership has worked tirelessly together to stabilise the national economy. He said global developments and the Gulf war have led to an extraordinary increase in energy prices.

Despite the challenges, the government launched a fuel subsidy scheme to provide relief to the people. He said thirteen million people have benefited from the fuel subsidy scheme.

Shehbaz Sharif said providing relief to the poor is a key priority of the government. He said all possible measures are being taken to protect the national economy from instability.
