Discussion program in connection with "Youm-e-Istehsaal"
August 05, 2022

Analysts call for sustained efforts to raise grave human rights violations by Indian occupation forces in Kashmir through effective use of media, especially the social media, and the academia.

Participating in Radio Pakistan's programme "Hotline," Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Altaf Wani said India, through its illegal and unilateral acts of 5 August 2019, is on path of total annexation of Kashmir in contravention of international and humanitarian laws as well as the UN Security Council resolutions. He said India has illegally changed special status of Kashmir without having any concurrence of the constituent assembly of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said rulers of New Delhi want to deprive Kashmiris of the land, jobs, and homes.

Former member of National Commission for Human Rights Pakistan Zafarullah Khan said India has deployed over 900,000 troops in IIOJK, making the territory the highly militarized zone of the world. He said the international community should take notice of grave human rights violations by India instead of seeing India as a big market. Radio Pakistan Correspondent Muhammad Akram Khan Kakar said human rights situation in IIOJK deteriorated after 5 August 2019. He said India is pursuing its agenda of changing demographic composition in IIOJK as part of its sinister strategy to disenfranchise Kashmir Muslim majority into minority by imposing a Hindu Chief Minister through sham elections. He said India has so far issued over 4.2 million illegal domicile certificates to non-Kashmiri settlers to obliterate Kashmiri identity. Similarly, the brutality of Indian forces has resulted in the martyrdom of over 640 innocent Kashmiris, including 120 extrajudicial killings.

The participants were unanimous that Pakistan has extending its diplomatic, political, and moral support to the just struggle of Kashmiris for the right to self-determination at all global fora.
