Muhammad Afzal Khan (Member of Parliament, UK): The response of the international community toward Kashmir issue is quite disappointing. The main purpose of the establishment of the United Nations was to maintain peace across the globe. It was the UN itself that committed to hold a plebiscite in Kashmir and let the Kashmiris decide their fate but Kashmir issue is still unresolved even after the passing of 72 years. At the one end, the entire world is mobilized over the Russia-Ukraine conflict but on the other hand it has adopted double standards on the Kashmir dispute. The need of the hour is to apply the same rules and policies across the board. The international community must realize that Kashmir is surrounded by three nuclear powers and a nuclear war will be a threat not only for this region but the entire world as well.
