Mateen Haider (Senior Journalist, New York): The Prime Minister would be addressing the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly session tonight. Apart from the address, the Prime Minister has a very busy schedule at the sidelines, including a meeting with Nobel Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai. Although the content of the Prime Minister's speech is not shared in advance, it is expected that the Prime Minister will highlight the devastation caused by the floods directly linked with the climate change phenomenon, Kashmir dispute, Pakistan's economic outlook, regional security and other important issues. The address of the Prime Minister is expected between 9pm to 10pm PST. Through the address, the Prime Minister will convey a strong message to the world that Pakistan is not a big contributor to carbon emissions, yet is more affected by the climate change. So, it is the responsibility of the world powers to compensate and support the developing countries in this regard.
