In Afghanistan, the death toll from flooding has risen to at least one hundred and thirteen people, with dozens of people still missing in eastern province of Nuristan.

Rescue operations are under way after a week-long heavy rains overwhelmed Kamdesh district in the remote, Taliban-controlled province.

Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority spokesman Abdul Samai Zarbi told media that more than 170 houses had been destroyed, affecting about 300 families.
