Afghanistan is at the verge of ‘world’s worst humanitarian crisis’
November 02, 2021

Ali Muhammad Khan (Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs): There may be humanitarian crises if the world does not come forward and support the Afghan government in the crucial times. It is the responsibility of western countries to put behind their ego and support the Afghan people in provision of food and improve the infrastructure in the war-torn country. The invasion of United States and allies in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021 has destroyed the infrastructure of that country, and now the world powers must play role to compensate the losses in Afghanistan. China is also supporting newly formed Afghan government but it is the need for the international community to also participate in facilitating Afghan people. In my opinions, the world must respect the sovereignty and integrity of Afghanistan and no one should dictate the Afghan people and let them decide their future. Prime Minister Imran Khan is among the few leaders in the world who always urged that there was  no military solution of Afghanistan issue and negotiation was the only way forward,  and at last the world acknowledged the narrative of Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.

Lt Gen (Retd) Raza Muhammad Khan (Defense Analyst): The current crises in Afghanistan not only may result in humanitarian crises but there could be increase in terrorism at international level as well. The regional stakeholders are well aware of the fact that peace and stability in Afghanistan is vital for regional peace and connectivity. There is the need to release the funds for Afghanistan. OIC and European Union must play role to ensure the financial assistance to Afghan government. The newly formed Afghan government may face issues to control the affairs if the financial situation of the country is not improved. Pakistan at its end is trying to provide assistance including medical and food stuff to Afghan people, but it is not enough. The United States must release the frozen funds of Afghanistan as early as possible. The world powers must contribute in improving infrastructure in Afghanistan. Hopefully, Taliban government will gradually get the international reorganization in near future.

Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar (Vice Chancellor, National Skills University):It is good omen that President Dr. Arif Alvi always motivated the youth of the country and urged them to focus on skill developments and advancement in information technology sector. The current era specifically in context to post-COVID scenario the world is advancing towards digitalization. There is a huge potential of IT sector in Pakistan and need of the hour is that students must get familiar with the sector as much as possible. The incumbent government is making all out efforts to provide platforms to the graduates where they can earn for their families rather than to go abroad after completing education. The opportunities exists in our country but the need is to utilize them. Many student are doing their own businesses under Prime Minister's Ehsaas Hunarmand Pakistan Program which is good development.
