In occupied Kashmir, an Indian Army colonel, a major, two soldiers and a police sub inspector have been killed in a gunfight with the mujahideen in Chanjimulla area of Handwara.
According to Kashmir Media Service, two mujahideen embraced martyrdom in the encounter.
The Indian military authorities have also confirmed the casualties.
Renowned Indian writer and defence analyst, Pravin Sawahney, while referring to the Indian Army’s killings said in a tweet that the Indian authorities are wasting soldiers in occupied Kashmir, knowing well that they could not win the war.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, today, the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service in its report said that the journalists in IOK are booked under draconian laws by the authorities for reporting the truth.
It said the Indian authorities are harassing journalists to prevent them from reporting the Indian atrocities against the common men.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference Spokesman and Hurriyat leaders Khawaja Firdous and Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi in their statements on the Press Freedom Day urged the international community and the United Nations to fulfill their responsibilities in protecting the journalist fraternity in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
APHC AJK chapter organized a protest demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today, to draw the attention of the UN and human rights organizations towards the appalling situation of the media in occupied Kashmir.
