World Space Week celebrations start from Sunday

World Space Week celebrations began from today featuring mostly virtual events across the world under the theme “Satellites Improve Life” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SUPARCO being the National Space Agency of Pakistan has also been celebrating the World Space Week every year with a number of activities since the year 2005.

The World Space Week is celebrated from October 4 to 10 every year to commemorate the launch of earth’s first human-made satellite, Sputnik I, on this day in 1957 and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has been focusing on exploring space technology in our daily lives.

National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA) in collaboration with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)- GIKI Chapter, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) will be conducting various space-related activities during the World Space Week (October 04 - 10, 2020)!
