State funeral of Air Marshal (R) Asghar Khan to be held

Former Air Chief Air Marshal Asghar Khan has passed away at CMH in Rawalpindi on Friday morning after protracted illness. He was ninety-six.

According to his family sources, Namaz-e-Janaza would be offered at Nawan Shehr in Abbottabad on Saturday (January ).

Retired Air Marshal Asghar Khan was a veteran politician, aviation historian and first native commander in chief of Pakistan Air Force.   

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Husain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Air Marshal retired Asghar Khan.

Political leadership has paid glowing tributes to Asghar Khan for his services to the Nation.

Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa expresses his grief on sad demise of ex Air Chief, Air Marshal Asghar Khan, Retired. An iconic soldier who will be remembered for his historic contributions for laying foundations of a strong Pakistan Air Force. May Allah bless his soul-Amen.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman also paid tribute to Asghar Khan and said that he played a key role in making PAF a modern Air Force.

 

On 23rd March 2017, the esteemed PAF Academy Risalpur was named after Air Marshal Asghar Khan, who was the first Muslim Commander-in-Chief of Pakistan Air Force. To celebrate this historic event in a befitting manner, a grand ceremony was held at the PAF Academy, Risalpur. Air Marshal Asghar Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, was also present at the ceremony. Former air chiefs, war veterans and a large number of retired and serving senior officers attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has approved the State Funeral for Air Marshal ( retired ) Asghar Khan in recognition of his services to the nation and great contribution in building the Pakistan Air Force into one of the best air forces in the world."
