Brig. (Retd.) Haris Nawaz (Defense Analyst): It is unfortunate that the world powers are just following their national interests and taking no concrete measures on human rights violations across the globe in general and in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in particular. United Nations has now become a debating club only and the world powers are using this forum for their own interests. Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC and across the globe observed Jammu Martyrs’ Day today to reaffirm the resolve to continue the martyrs’ mission till the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination. The human rights champions are expressing concern over rights of women in Afghanistan, but are not seeing the Kashmiri women being raped by Indian forces. Pellet guns are being used against innocent Kashmiris. The only priority of the world is to protect their national interests. It is the responsibility of Muslim World to get united and work for the rights of Muslims. After the illegal move of the Indian government to abrogate Article 370 and 35-A, the pro-Indian politicians in IIOJ&K are admiring the two-nation theory of Quaid-e-Azam and declaring the affiliation with India at the time of partition a big mistake of their ancestors.
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Asif Yasin Malik (Defense Analyst): There are more than 50 Muslim countries in the world and 1.9 billion Muslims, making up about 24.7% of the world population. None of the Western countries have ever raised voices against the brutalities on Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir. Pakistan is the only country that has been highlighting human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine at all international forums. Need of the hour is that OIC and other regional organizations play a pro-active role in developing a consensus and save the Muslim Ummah from human rights violations. It is of utmost importance to shed light on persistent human rights violations and the rising acts of discrimination against the Muslim Ummah. The international community must be vigilant and take coordinated steps to respond to the violations against Muslims.
Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): The European and NATO countries have blocked the aid to Afghanistan that is adding difficulties for new Afghan government. United Nation General Secretary has expressed serious concerns over grim situation in the war-torn country. Pakistan is urging the world time and again to come forward and support Afghan people in order to avert any humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. United States needs to release billions of dollars in Afghan assets so that Afghan government can run its state affairs. It is high time that the global community learns from the collective mistakes for the sake of Afghanistan’s future and regional stability. If the world does not pay attention on improving the infrastructure of Afghanistan, it may become a hub of terrorists again threatening the entire world.
