Hurriyat leader Abdul Ghani Butt urges result-oriented, sustained talks on Kashmir

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior Hurriyat leader Professor Abdul Ghani Butt has stressed the need for resolving the Kashmir dispute through result-oriented and sustained dialogue process between Pakistan and India in the interest of humanity.

Addressing people during his visit to Sopore on Sunday, he said, the talks are the only way to resolve the long-pending dispute, which is a nuclear flashpoint between the two South Asian countries. He urged the world to support peace initiative of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to avert a confrontation between the nuclear-armed Pakistan and India. He hoped that the Kashmirs’ sacrifices would soon be rewarded in the form of freedom.

Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement in Srinagar welcomed the adoption of a resolution on Kashmir by the New York assembly in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day in the United States. He said that sincere and well-directed efforts by Prime Minister Imran Khan have started showing results at diplomatic front.

APHC leader Advocate Devinder Singh Behl addressing a meeting in Jammu appealed to the United Nations to put pressure on India to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute through dialogue with Pakistan.

Meanwhile, US State Department Spokesperson Zed Tarar in a media interview in London said that President Joe Biden wants an immediate solution to the Kashmir issue. He said that President Biden has made it clear that human rights are a fundamental issue for the United States, and Kashmir is a human rights issue.
