Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured to provide all necessary resources for elimination of locust swarms in the country. 

Chairing a high-level review meeting on eradication of locust in Islamabad, he stressed regular contact and coordination between the federal and provincial governments to cope with the prevailing challenge of locusts attack.

He said it is a national emergency and the federal government would make all out efforts to get rid of this menace.

Secretary National Food Security briefed the Prime Minister about the various steps taken regarding the elimination of locusts.

The meeting was told that various inter-departmental and inter-provincial coordination, surveillance, control and awareness committees have been constituted under the national action plan for elimination of locusts.

The provincial Chief Ministers, participating in the meeting via video link, shared various proposals to tackle the issue.
