Masarat Alam Butt made new chairman of APHC

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, today (Tuesday), appointed illegally detained Masarrat Aalam Butt, as its new chairman to spearhead the Kashmir freedom movement after the demise of veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani.

The decision in this regard was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the constituent parties held at the office APHC in Srinagar, today.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar have been appointed as vice chairmen while Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani will continue to work as the APHC General Secretary.

The new APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, was born in Srinagar in 1971.

He was first arrested by the Indian paramilitary Border Security Force in October 1990, and was released five years, later.

At present, he remains imprisoned in New Delhi’s Tihar jail.

He has almost spent 25 years in jail and has been slapped with draconian law, Public Safety Act, 38 times.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has released another protest calendar in the wake of the custodial death of veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani.
