COVID-19 becomes global issue, could only be controlled by following SOPs: Analysts
June 08, 2020

Dr. Alia H. Khan (Economist):

The countries that cannot afford the financial assistance for the causal worker including daily wagers and contractual employees have pressure to ease the lockdown. The governments in developing countries are easing the lockdown so that people could earn for their families to survive. The government eased the lockdown just before Eid but unfortunately people and shopkeepers totally ignored the SOPs that resulted in immediate increase in number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan. The COVID-19 has become a global issue and can be controlled by following the SOPs issued by health professionals. The domestic economy has a slight pick-up as supply chain at local level has been restored but supply chain at regional and global level is still closed.

Dr. Huma Baqai (IR Expert):

The time to time allegations of Indian government is the indication of Indian desperation. Indian is facing humiliation at all fronts as it is humiliated by Chinese army at Line of Actual Control. Moreover, India is also facing international pressure on the issue of not controlling COVID-19 cases. The Indian government is using the strategy of scapegoat to divert the world's attention from the failure of its policies. Prime Minister Imran Khan has clarified a number of times and warned the world that India may stage a false flag operation to hide its frustration. The pigeon story and new Indian allegations of destruction of Buddhist sites in Gilgit-Baltistan are baseless and indicative of strong convergence of China and Pakistan. Gilgit-Baltistan is on Indian radar for last few years since Pakistan effectively highlighted Kashmir issue.

Dr. Noor Fatima (Economist):

Being a developing country, Pakistan cannot avail the option of complete lockdown in current circumstances. There is a need that people should be educated and provided with awareness to control the spread of COVID-19 pandemic along with allowing them to do their business activities. There are already limited resources and insufficient funds with the government so it is not possible to provide relief packages to the deserving again. The government has adopted a strategy of smart lockdown where we can contain the areas with high risk of corona cases. The government must be prepared and must have different plans to deal with COVID-19 challenge. Unfortunately, thousands of cases are being reported on daily basis.

Dr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui (Economist):

As Muslims, we have strong belief that Allah imposes burden that is bearable. I am expecting over 3 million new COVID-19 cases in the country till July. The government did its best to make the people aware of preventive measures but unfortunately the people expressed irresponsible attitude towards the pandemic. Prime Minister made it clear that if the cases continue to increase at high speed, then the government will use the option of lockdown again. World Health Organization has also urged the countries to impose lockdown in order to control spread of corona virus. The government should provide Rashan to the deserving families in case of lockdown otherwise people may die due to hunger.

Dr. Hassan Abbas Zaheer (Hematologist):

So far, no scientific evidence has been observed that corona virus can be transformed through blood transfusion. The affectees of COVID-19 must not donate blood. We need plasma to treat the COVID-19 cases. Moreover, the patient with mild symptoms of COVID-19 pandemic and serious patient of this virus do not need the plasma. The government must ensure the availability of plasma of recovered patients in all hospitals so that new cases can be dealt. We have expertise of treatment of patient through plasma therapy. We have already begun the process of collecting the plasma of patients recovered from the corona virus.

Shamim Shawl (Hurriyet Leader):

Indian forces have martyred five youths in Pulwama in the name of search. Indian forces have ignored the programs initiated by WHO for Kashmiri people regarding COVID-19. Indian government is killing innocent Kashmiris and committing worst genocide in Occupied Kashmir. The international community must take notice of Indian human rights violations in Kashmir valley. The Kashmiris are being depressed through use of brutal force. I must salute the courage and bravery of Kashmiris who refused to accept illegal Indian occupation by all means. The time is not far when India will be destroyed into parts as a result of its policies. The world champions and United Nations must have to play their roles to listen to the voice of Kashmiris and ensure the implementation of UN resolutions according to which Kashmiris are to be given their right to self-determination. During the lockdown in Occupied Kashmir, the Kashmiri people listened to Radio Pakistan and acknowledged the role of Pakistan in advocating Kashmir issue on all international forums.
