In Afghanistan, government forces killed eighteen militants in a cleanup operation in northern Takhar province on Saturday. The operation conducted in Darqad district of the province also cleared a village of the militants and destroyed their three hideouts.

Meanwhile, a vehicle belonging to US forces was targeted in Kandahar province. Taliban have claimed the responsibility.
