Kanwal Shauzab (Leader, PTI): I am very optimistic of the victory of PTI government in electing Chairman and Deputy Chairman in senate elections tomorrow. PTI since assuming power has been struggling to ensure transparency in elections of upper and lower houses of parliament. The Upper House is a continuous body that never dissolves. The process through which the senators were elected in recent elections was disappointing. In my opinion, there should be no skepticism on credibility of the candidate and the process of electing the senator. It is the basic ingredient of democracy that members elected in upper and lower houses must be credible. The candidate with mandate of people of his constituency must be elected. The election result on general seat was stolen in recent senate elections and the person with no credibility was elected as senator through horse trading. Prime Minister is very much determined to bring transparency in election process and PTI has introduced 26 amendments in this regard. A big change will be noticed in future regarding the transparency in electoral process.
Waleed Iqbal (Senator, PTI): Prime Minister in a meeting with the senators today clearly stated that election of chairman and deputy chairman senate would be a defining moment. It is the beauty of democracy that any election process should be transparent. Prime Minister Imran Khan is determined and making all out efforts to bring transparency in electoral process. It must be through show of hands rather than secret balloting. The Election Commission of Pakistan is responsible to conduct fair and free elections. I am confident that tomorrow will be the victory of true democracy and defeat of corrupt practices.
Dr. Huma Baqai (IR Expert): Since day one, Pakistan has a crystal clear narrative that it wants to resolve all outstanding issues with India through dialogue, including the core dispute of Kashmir. Pakistan will continue to criticize the barbaric treatment of India to innocent Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan is committed to have functional relation with India but the present Indian government always hides behind its anti-Pakistan propaganda.
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Defense Analyst): Pakistan has rightly urged India to rescind its illegal actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. With time, the public opinion across the globe has been changing as far as Indian narrative on Kashmir is concerned. Pakistan is giving moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people and will continue it till the Kashmiris get their fundamental right to self-determination. Pakistan is the only hope for Kashmiri brethren in this regard. The hate among the Kashmiris against India is at its peak and they will not accept illegal Indian occupation at any cost. Pakistan needs to double its efforts to expose the cruel Indian face. The policies of present Indian government will isolate New Delhi in the world. In last couple of years, India tried its best to put pressure on Pakistan through ceasefire violations at LoC but Pakistani forces always gave a befitting response. The voices within India in support of Kashmiris and the protesting farmers are increasing.
