United Nations has urged Indian government to conduct an impartial probe into the arrest of senior APHC leader, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and his subsequent death in custody in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demand has been made by four UN special rapporteurs Morris Tidball-Binz, Tae-Ung Baik, Tlaleng Mofokeng, and Mental Health in a letter to Indian government.
In the letter, the UN rapporteurs have also urged Modi government to ensure that human rights of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai’s illegally detained sons, Mujahid Ashraf Khan and Rashid Ashraf Khan, are respected.
Meanwhile, APHC leader and Democratic Political Movement Chairman, Khawaja Firdous in a statement in Srinagar said Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government is using every brutal tactic to suppress Kashmiris' freedom struggle, but would never succeed in its nefarious designs.
On the other hand, Indian Journalists Union in a statement said intimidation of media in Kashmir Valley, as well as blocking of websites, must be halted so that journalists can do their work without fear of reprisal.
In Washington, speakers at a condolence reference held for veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, paid glowing tribute to him for his services and sacrifices in the Kashmiris’ struggle for securing their right to self-determination.
