In Afghanistan, seventeen people have been killed due to severe cold weather in different parts of the country.     

Talking to Reuters, government officials said the death toll could rise further, with Afghan  Natural Disaster Management Authority still trying to compile a total figure.           

Heavy snowfall has closed many key roads connecting different parts of the country including the Kabul-Kandahar highway.
