President Dr Arif Alvi has underlined the need for improvement in education standards in universities and increase in enrollment of students.

Speaking at a briefing about the Capital University of Science and Technology in Islamabad, he said universities should ensure implementation of policy on anti-narcotics and welfare of special persons.

The President appreciated the exemption given by Higher Education Commission to the special persons in the tuition and hostel fee.

He urged universities to focus on character building of students.

Dr Arif Alvi said universities should adopt modern information technology to stop waste of time during the coronavirus pandemic.

He also emphasized to focus on cyber security and distance learning.
