Turkey has strongly condemned a ruling by a top European Union court allowing the banning of headscarves terming it as a clear violation of religious freedoms.

In a statement Turkish Foreign Ministry said the ruling of EU Court of headscarf ban is a sign of rising Islamophobia at a time when Muslim women in Europe are being subjected to increasing discrimination for their religious beliefs.
