Analysts term peaceful Afghanistan vital for regional peace, stability
August 18, 2021

Dr. Saira Aquil (Expert on International Relations):  Under the current circumstances in Afghanistan, we have seen a very quick victory of the Afghan Taliban.  Many new regional dynamics and convergence of interest are taking place as far as Afghan issue is concerned. Pakistan’s leadership has categorically stated that they would support any joint decision made by the international community, including regional countries, about the future of Afghanistan.  Pakistan is heading in the right direction as far as the evolving situation in Afghanistan is concerned. A peaceful and stable Afghanistan is of critical importance for Pakistan and the region. Pakistan always supported the Afghan peace process for regional peace and stability. Under the current circumstances in Afghanistan, it is extremely important to ensure safety and security of the Afghan people. An inclusive political settlement of Afghan conflict is vital for regional peace and stability.

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (Expert on Afghan Affairs):   Pakistan always expressed strong support and solidarity for the fraternal people of Afghanistan, who linked to the people of Pakistan through immutable bonds of faith, history, geography, culture and kin-ship.  No other country is more desirous of peace and stability in Afghanistan than Pakistan.  It is a good gesture that Afghan land would not be used against Pakistan or any other country. Under the current situation, great responsibility rests on the Afghan leaders to work constructively together to lead Afghanistan on the path of sustainable peace, stability and development. India has always used the Afghan soil to perpetrate terrorism in Pakistan.  The fresh statements from the Afghan Taliban show that they want to establish good friendly relations with other regional countries.

Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi (IR Expert): Whatever you call, Taliban have recaptured Afghanistan despite of 20 years fight against mighty NATO forces. The current Taliban leadership is mature enough and I am hopeful that the international community will recognize them as Afghan leadership. Taliban will also manage to create soft image in front of the world. This time Taliban-dominated government would operate given the changes in Afghanistan over the last 20 years and the policies of Taliban will be positively different from the past including honour women’s rights, but within the norms of Islamic law. Apparently, Pakistan has no threats with the constitution of Taliban government in Afghanistan. International community acknowledges role of Pakistan in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
