Pakistan is attractive destination for Buddhist tourists: President

President Dr Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan highly values its relations with Sri Lanka as both countries have unanimity of opinion on regional and international issues and enjoy excellent relations in all areas of mutual interests.

He made these remarks while talking to the visiting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, General Shavendra Silva, who called on him, in Islamabad today (Friday).

The President underlined the need for further enhancing economic, cultural and defence relations between the two countries.

Dr Arif Alvi said that Pakistan is an attractive destination for the Buddhist tourists and people from Sri Lanka need to be encouraged to visit the religious and scenic sites in Pakistan.

The Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of Sri Lankan Army said that Pakistan is a close and dearest friend and his country wants to further improve bilateral ties with Pakistan. 

Later, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, General Shavendra Silva called on the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ in Rawalpindi today.

According to ISPR, during the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security issues with particular reference to enhanced military cooperation were discussed. 

The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan's continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region, especially in Afghan Peace Process. He pledged to further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

Earlier on arrival at GHQ, visiting dignitary laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
