Dr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui (Economist): China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a flagship project of BRI of China. China started investing in Pakistan at a time when no foreign investors were willing to put their money here. It is important that Pakistani investors also play their role in investing in projects alongside their Chinese counterparts. Our industrial production is weak and we can benefit from Chinese experience in this area. We should also train our people with necessary skills to work in CPEC related projects. It is very encouraging that Prime Minister has listened to concerns of Chinese investors and assured to facilitate them. China has long term relations with Pakistan and we can use these to our economic advantage.
Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Pakistan and China have a deep-rooted friendship for the last many decades. China has invested in many projects in Pakistan over the years. Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking keen interest in the progress of various CPEC projects and has instructed officials concerned to remove all hiccups in the way of Chinese investors. China is also assisting Pakistan in the field of IT and as a result Pakistan’s IT exports are increasing.
Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): It is a very good gesture by Pakistan to help their Afghan brethren. Pakistan has always helped Afghanistan on all important occasions. Both countries are intertwined in deep bonds of religion, culture and language. Pakistan has been highlighting the situation in Afghanistan before the world community, warning of looming humanitarian disaster. It has provided food supplies to feed Afghan people and will continue to do so.
Brig. (Retd.) Mehmood Shah (Defense Analyst): Afghanistan is facing a humanitarian crisis and it is need of the hour to help the war country by all means. Pakistan on its part is making a lot of efforts to avert the crisis but without international assistance it is not possible. The ordinary people of Afghanistan have nothing to do with politics and they just want to live their lives peacefully. It is duty of the world community to engage with current Afghan government and provide help to Afghan people. India has traditionally played the role of a spoiler in Afghanistan which is not good for regional peace and stability.
