Rescue and relief activities in rain hit areas of Balochistan in full swing

In Balochistan, emergency has been declared and Army called-in in district Lasbela after flash flooding caused by torrential rains in the area.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Lasbela, rescue operation is in progress to evacuate some 200 families trapped in a village in the district.

He said the torrential rains and flash flooding also damaged Mulaar Bund in the area.

He said four helicopters of Pakistan Army will also take part in the rescue and relief activities today.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Home Minister of Balochistan, Ziaullah Longove visited rains and flood-hit areas of the province. He said relief goods have also been despatched to the affected areas.

Govt utilizing resources to carry out rescue activities in all rain hit areas: CM Balochistan

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal has said that the government is utilizing all available resources to carry out rescue activities in all the rain hit areas of the province.

He was addressing a news conference at the office of Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Quetta on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said that the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of all the divisions and district have been put on red alert to timely cope with any type of emergency situation.

He said one helicopter owned by the provincial government and three of Pak Army have been put on standby and the all the four helicopters would join the rescue teams in affected areas.

The Chief Minister said one consignment comprising relief goods was dispatched through twenty five trucks to the rain hit areas.

Replying to a query, Jam said that two persons have so far been drowned by the flood water in Lasbella district.
