Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan highly values its bilateral relations with Sweden as an important partner in the European Union.
He was talking to his Swedish Counterpart Ann Linde on the side-line of 76th session of United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday.
He said we look forward to growing our bonds in all spheres, specifically with greater political, economic, technical and educational exchange between the two countries. He also emphasized the need to transform the growing multilateral relationship between the two countries into a "multilateral partnership".
He also briefed his Swedish counterpart on evolving situation of Afghanistan and Pakistan's vision to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Referring to the "economic priority agenda" in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision, the Foreign Minister appreciated the bilateral cooperation with Sweden in the areas of trade and investment and reiterated commitment to further strengthen it.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Swedish business companies can take advantage of Pakistan's "business friendly" investment opportunities in different sectors.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister also held a meeting with his Indonesian Counterpart Retno Marsudi and discussed the strengthening bilateral relationship and close coordination to deal effectively with regional and global challenges.
The Foreign Minister also held a meeting with his Romanian Counterpart Bogdan Aurescu and exchanged views on bilateral relations and situation in Afghanistan.
He said Pakistan gives immense importance to its relations with Romania. He said that operationalization of Pakistan-Romania Business Council and Joint Economic Commission can play an important role in promoting trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Qureshi briefed his Romanian counterpart regarding Pakistan's perspective on the situation in Afghanistan and the best way forward for ensuring peace and stability in the region. He stressed on the vital importance of sustained international engagement with Afghanistan to prevent an humanitarian and economic crisis.
Foreign Minister Qureshi handed over to Foreign Minister Aurescu the copy of a Dossier documenting India's grave violations of human rights and international humanitarian law as well as of UN Security Council resolutions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Bogdan Aurescu thanked the leadership of Pakistan for providing timely assistance for safe evacuation of Romanian citizens from Afghanistan.
