Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Former Ambassador): This is a great undertaking by Saudi Prince Mohammad bin Salman to transform desert into green area. The perils of climate change are affecting the whole world. The Saudi initiative to combat climate change is very important in today’s world. Pakistan is committed to its role in reducing the global CO2 emissions and has started big projects like Clean and Green Pakistan and Billion Tree Tsunami. Saudi Arabia has provided assistance to Pakistan on numerous occasions. Riyadh is a trustworthy and reliable friend of Islamabad and will continue to support us in future.
Dr. Talat Wizarat (IR Expert): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy long standing brotherly relations. The tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia is not good for Pakistan as Islamabad does not want to take sides. Pakistan is enjoying good fraternal relations with both countries. It is hoped that there will not be any conditions imposed on Pakistan in these ties.
Dr. Rasheed Ahmed (IR expert): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have been enjoying cordial ties and a large number of Pakistani expatriates are rendering services in the oil rich kingdom. Saudi Arabia has always taken interest in Pakistan’s development and provided financial aid to Islamabad in times of difficulty. The meetings of Prime Minister Imran Khan with Saudi officials have international significance as their discussion will range from regional situation in the wake of Taliban takeover of Afghanistan to global issue of climate change.
Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): The UN was established for noble causes. It is a big achievement of the UN that it has so far been successful in stopping a third world war. The UN has provided services in many sectors including global peacekeeping, social development and energy cooperation. Pakistan has also played a key role as an active member of the UN. Pakistan hosted millions of Afghan refugees in cooperation with UNHCR. At the global front, Pakistan has been providing troops for UN peacekeeping missions. However, the UN has yet to achieve successes on many fronts including the resolution of lingering disputes like Kashmir and Palestine.
