Minister for Narcotics Control calls for collective efforts for elimination of the menace of drugs.

Minister for Narcotics Control Ijaz Ahmed Shah has called for collective efforts by the society to eliminate menace of drugs from the country.

Addressing the Central Drug Burning Ceremony in Islamabad today [Wednesday], he said all segments of the society need to take part in this fight against the menace.

The Minister for Narcotics Control said the present government has formulated the first ever Anti-Narcotics Policy.

Addressing the ceremony, Director General ANF Major General Ghulam Shabeer Narejo said ANF seized 184 metric tons of narcotics this year, and 18 metric tons of drugs worth 1.3 billion dollars burned today.

He said the present government has a firm resolve to eliminate the menace from the country.

However, he said, the entire society, particularly the opinion makers, have a role to play to create awareness about it.

Prominent personalities from art including Jamal Shah, singer Shahzad Roy and actor Noman Masood also addressed the ceremony and urged the youth to utilize their potential in healthy activities.
