Analysts appreciate EU parliament’s raising of questions over Indian sponsoring of anti-Pakistan media campaign
January 28, 2021

Syed Fakhar Imam (Federal Minister): The fascist mindset of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Ajit Dovol has been exposed in front of the world. The Indian human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, its controversial citizenship bill and illegal and unilateral move of abrogating special status of Kashmir have backfired. The policies of present Indian government have been facing strong opposition and its economy is also dwindling at a faster pace. The reports of UN Human Rights Organization exposing Indian atrocities in IIOJ&K cannot be justified by New Delhi. For the past two months, Indian farmers have been protesting against three bills passed by the central government without having any debate in the assembly. The Indian law enforcement agencies are unable to control the situation. UK PM Boris Johnson was invited as Chief Guest on the occasion of Indian Republic Day but he refused to attend the ceremony. The world's human rights organizations are openly criticizing the human rights abuses perpetrated by Indian forces in IIOJ&K. Kashmir is a disputed territory that is also acknowledged by the UN and the time is not far when Kashmiris will get their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions.

Dr. Khurram Iqbal (IR Expert): India armed, financed and provided logistics support to different militant groups to create troubles in Pakistan in order to destabilize the country. EU DisinfoLab has exposed Indian efforts to malign Pakistan through its campaign aimed at reinforcing pro-India sentiment, while pushing anti-Pakistan sentiment across the world by manipulating the media. India used fake media outlets and also created fake NGOs for the completion of its anti-Pakistan agenda. Moreover, India has been supporting separatist movements in Pakistan for the last two decades and also providing political asylum to militants involved in destabilizing Pakistan through terrorist activities. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has publically admitted that New Delhi is directly or indirectly involved in promoting terrorism in Pakistan and supporting separatist movements in the country. Narendra Modi augmented anti-Pakistan campaign and took it to the next level. It is world’s responsibility to take notice of EU DisinfoLab findings and punish such actors who intentionally engage in disinformation and abuse international institutions.

Jalil Abbas Jillani (Former Ambassador): I have had the opportunity to deal with Joe Biden when he was Vice President of the United States. I am hopeful that Joe Biden will strive for peace and stability in Afghanistan. We also expect greater coordination from Joe Biden to ongoing peace dialogue in Afghanistan. Basically, the ongoing peace process is complex as the stakeholders have to face a number of internal and external challenges. Overall, Afghan situation will remain a key concern for the Biden administration and peace in Afghanistan will ultimately depend on the willingness of various stakeholders to compromise. On the other side, Washington’s actions are also of vital importance. Joe Biden has a longer, more detailed history of opinion and advice on Afghanistan than any previous U.S. president and he has always advocated for the lightest possible military footprint in Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Ejaz Awan (Defense Analyst): I am hopeful that the new US administration will also support the ongoing peace process in Afghanistan. Joe Biden, as vice president of the United States, had opposed military solution to Afghan conflict and also differed on Trump's policy of 'surge' in the war-torn country. The newly elected US president will also have to look that Afghan soil is not used by militant organizations for nefarious designs against other countries. All the regional stakeholders including Pakistan want to see a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. Afghan Taliban do not accept and acknowledge Afghan constitution and want amendments in it. Some peace spoilers, including India, are active in their wicked agenda as peaceful and stable Afghanistan is not in their interest. We will have to wait and see how the United States asserts its policy. Pakistan has already played a vital role in convincing the Afghan Taliban to sit on negotiation table but Islamabad cannot dictate them on terms and conditions of Afghan peace process. All the stakeholders in Afghan peace process should be patient and consistent for fruitful outcomes of the negotiations.
