The celebrations marking the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey started today [Friday].
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other state officials visited the mausoleum of the country's founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, in the capital Ankara and laid floral wreaths.
On this day in 1923, Ataturk officially declared the name of the nation and proclaimed the country's status as a republic.
Today marks the 98th anniversary of #RepublicDay of our brother nation #Turkey. I would like to extend my warmest congratulations and prayers for success and prosperity for the people of this brave and resilient nation. @Mustafa_MFA
