In Syria, government forces have recaptured a strategic Maaret al-Numan town in Idlib province from militants.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the town lies on the highway connecting the capital Damascus to second city Aleppo.

A war Observatory said regime forces advancing on Saraqeb has also seized  five villages besides Maaret al-Numan town.
