Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurates Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim in Karachi

Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim in Karachi today (Saturday).

Speaking on the occasion, he said government wants to provide more green spaces to future generations of the country.

He said Karachi was full of open and green spaces in past, but unfortunately these were occupied by land grabbers.

The Prime Minister said that number of parks and green areas in Karachi have decreased a lot and we need to preserve the remaining areas and develop new ones.

He said the target of 10 billion trees in next five years will also include planting of more trees in Karachi and other cities of Sindh.

He said Pakistan falls at eighth number in top ten countries most affected by global warming. He said our future generations will not forgive us if we do not take steps now for improving the environment.

The Prime Minister said it has been decided to encourage more vertical buildings in the country to save the green areas.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar for developing this park.

Imran Khan said the park is a new addition in green landscape of the city and will provide excursion opportunity to the public.

It may be pointed out that Bagh Ibn e Qasim is located near Clifton Beach in Karachi and spreads over 130 acres. The park includes several attractions for public including plants of various flower species.

The park was first opened for public in 2007 and had been in dilapidated condition for a few years which has now been restored and renovated completely.
