Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has said efforts are being made to improve port facilities to attract trade from across the globe.

Talking to the media in Islamabad this afternoon, he said world's renowned ports companies have shown keen interest in Pakistani ports as they can handle large ships. He said Central Asian States and Russia are also looking towards Pakistani ports for the transit of their goods due to low freight cost.

The Minister said the government has also decided to ensure sixty percent of public sector imports through the Gwadar Port, which will create job opportunities for the people of Balochistan.
