ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) will ink Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for promoting Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation.

The MoU will support a variety of priority activities related to meteorology, hydrology, desertification control, geophysical disasters, climate change, glacier monitoring, seismology, environment and eco-system research, disaster mitigation and relief.

An official of Met office informed APP that it would help initiate joint research projects on common areas of interest, academic seminars, workshops and conferences. Under the agreement, joint research centers, laboratories or stations would also be established besides exchange of scientists and administrative staff between both the organizations, postgraduate education and technical training and exchange of information and publications.
